Back to the good things

When was the last time you read for fun? I mean when was the last time you got home and were excited to read a book, not one that you thought was interesting from class but one that you went to go get from a store or a library. For me, until this past weekend, that last time I read was the last Harry Potter book.

When I was younger I used to read all the time, I always had a book. In middle school I started the Harry Potter series and continued with it. I also read about half of the series titled A Series of Unfortunate Events, or something like that. But once I got to high school, I only read Harry Potter because I felt like there were so many better things to do. I had after school activities, harder classes, and more of a social life; so reading was put on the back burner (I should probably say in some Tupperware and in the back of the fridge because I’ve had no inclination to read for so long).

This past weekend however I decided to pick up a book from my college library, and have been reading it whenever I have spare time. Reading this book however has brought me back to simpler times, times when all I had to do to entertain myself was find good life and place to be alone. I had forgotten how reading can take you out of your life, away from your drama and responsibilities, and put you in a new world. Of course I’m reading a fiction book because who honestly, who read books that could happen for fun.

So yeah, I’m glad I’m reading this books, it’s taking a while but it’s fun.
